Looking On the Lighter Side

Is it just me or do you notice there is a victim mentality slant to things that seems to be encroaching on us lately? There seems to be a combination of events happening around us of late that is causing many to huddle into a “poor us” mentality. I can see it clearly in the news outlets as they report current happenings. Maybe this perspective comes with the territory of bad news that we’ve had a stretch of lately.

I don’t think we are ever going to make progress in life when we are stuck on the story lines that things are dark and getting darker. We make progress when we look on the side of things that declares the victory of God in and around us. There are always great things happening around us if we have eyes to see. We need a heart perspective that will arouse us to see beyond what we are hearing. We need to interpret things a little in order to find the great good things that God is up to around us.

I am convinced that the best things are yet to be in all our lives. Deep down we know this is true – we know it in our minds as well from the teaching of scripture. We win in the end.

Let’s focus on the things God is up to right now, not on the things that seem overwhelming. The best is yet to come – that is always true in all our lives.
