We are looking at the power of “Making A Lasting Impression” in this month’s Serve. It’s a bit of a controversial topic when you think about it. We all desire to make a good impression. But is that desire something that is willed by God as well or are we aspiring to make impressions on our own apart from the strength of God? Is it okay for us to long to make a lasting impression on people around us? Does God really care how people think about us? The short answer is “That all depends.”
If you are pushing the envelope that will open doors for you to become rich and famous, well there is no guarantee that God is all that incredibly interested in allowing you to make a lasting impression. However, if your deep down motive is to connect with people so that you can extend the kingdom, well maybe then there's something to your desire.
The good news -- so long as you are playing with open motives, that is, if you are interested in doing what you do for the purpose of bringing glory to Christ, then you don't need to worry about all these things.
As we reach out with the love of Christ we are going to make a lasting impression upon our communities. We are going to see them touched in ways that are going to be unforgettable.
